THR discussed tourism development opportunities for Shymkent at the Development Forum 2018

The main purpose of the Forum celebrated at Kazakhstan was to familiarize participants with the development strategy of Shymkent, investment opportunities of the city, promotion of a favorable investment climate, promotion of small and medium businesses, attracting domestic and foreign investment, as well as the development of tourism.

In relation to this last topic, Christophe de Bruyn, CEO of THR Innovative Tourism Advisors, was part of the Tourism Development Panel together with Vladimir Denisov, President of Scat Airlines; Ibrakhim Celik, General Manager of Rixos Khadisha Shymkent; and Izzat Dzhuraev, Head of the Department of tourism development of Tashkent state Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for tourism development.

During his participation, De Bruyn emphasized that "Hard development" in tourism has been properly considered for Shymkent and the opportunity right now is to focus on everything that comes with the "Soft development", meaning:

• Tourism product and unique experiences development


• B2C and B2B marketing and promotion


• Efficient management system set up


• Investors and operators attraction

At the Forum, in general, it has been discussed such issues as the benefits of doing business and increasing the investment attractiveness of the city, as well as measures to provide state support for business activities carried out at the local and Central levels.
