Kenya won the FVW Destination Ranking Central and Southern Africa at ITB 2019

Kenya was represented by a record of 40 travel trade firms which re-affirmed country’s resilience and readiness for continued business.

Sustainable tourism is our key priority, it is a necessity in today’s tourism business, and Kenya is making its strides towards this,” said Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala while speaking to an international press in Germany.

The German market remains among one of Kenya’s key tourist source markets. It recorded 78,388 arrivals last year, a growth of 59.2% from 2017 that posted almost 50.000 arrivals.

The FVW Destination Ranking 2019 shows German and international visitor figures for the top tourist destinations worldwide, highlighting winners and losers of the last five years. This year Kenya was awarded in the “Central and Southern Africa” category for its extraordinary comeback, an accelerated growth since 2016.

ITB is one of the platforms of showcasing Kenya’s destination and product diversification. Our global campaigns and the renewed confidence on destination is expected to boost our numbers from the market,” said Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) CEO, Dr Betty Radier.
