This centre located in Barcelona's port was conceived and developed to be a point of reference to recover the city's seafront. This leisure, tourist and commercial centre, also known as Maremagnum, comprises a great variety of shops, restaurants, cafés, galleries, cinemas, etc. Both locals and numerous tourists visit the centre.
The Maremagnum complex is situated on the seafront in a former loading bay in the Port of Barcelona. The challenge was to revitalise that particular area of the city by creating a product attractive enough to become a significant component of the city's tourist attractions.
THR played a crucial rolel in designing the functional aspects of the complex. It elaborated the strategy and the tourist and commercial development, the space management model, and the mix of businesses.
THR was responsible for the basic development of the following projects:
- Definition of the product's concept.
- Structuring of the mix of services.
- Elaboration of a business plan.
- Design of a marketing plan.
Facing the sea and in the heart of the city, the 23,000m2 Maremagnum complex is visited by over 15 million people every year. It also makes substantial profit and has become an unmissable commercial and leisure development for both the locals and international tourists.
